Frequently Asked Questions

Linda Pence

Q: What should I know if I am coming in for the first time?

A: Please arrive fifteen minutes before your scheduled appointment to fill out a health intake form and to meet with me. To minimize intake time and allow for more time on the table, download, print, and fill out the form here (if applicable). Bring the completed form with you on the day of your first session. Please arrive at least five minutes before your scheduled appointment time (if it is not your first appointment) to ensure the best experience possible. If you are coming for Reiki, you should wear loose comfortable clothing that you can move in—this therapy is done with the client clothed.

Q: Is it necessary for me to take all of my clothes off for the massage?

A: No; the type of therapy you choose will determine how much you might wish to undress, but no matter what type of massage you choose, you only undress to your level of comfort. Your comfort is of upmost importance to receive the best treatment possible, and there are alternative ways to work if you don’t feel comfortable undressing past a certain level. When undressed, you can be covered with a sheet and a blanket over the parts of the body not being worked on. Please let me know what kind of draping preferences you prefer.

Q: Is it appropriate to be completely disrobed under a sheet and blanket during the massage?

A: Yes; a client will be given privacy to undress and lay on the massage table and choose the level and choice of draping (sheet or sheet and blanket) he or she is most comfortable with. I will wait until the client is ready before entering. You are given a button to push to signal to me that you are ready to begin the massage. When a client is comfortable not wearing any clothing under the sheet or towel, I have the most optimal possibility to use a full range of techniques. Quite a few of them have to be applied on bare skin, to bring about the greatest effect for the client. If you wear undergarments or any amount of clothing, I as the therapist will adjust the techniques for the greatest beneficial effect under the circumstances.

Q: What types of payment do you accept?

A:Cash, checks, and all major credit cards are accepted.

Q: Can I talk during the massage?

A: Yes; it is okay to talk or ask questions at any time. It is also ok to be quiet. You are very much encouraged to communicate with me if you are uncomfortable in any way (i.e. pressure, temperature, music preference, etc.)

Q: Is there anything else I should know?

A: If you think you are going to be late or can’t make your appointment, please call as soon as you can. If you do arrive late, I will always try to accomplish the requested amount of time if there is room in the schedule. Full payment for the time scheduled will be required, even if you arrive late and no adjustment could be made to work later. If you don’t show up for your scheduled appointment or fail to call and cancel, a fee of half the cost of your scheduled massage may be charged before another appointment can be scheduled.
